Greek Thrace - Sestos | Çanakkale Eceabat Yalova village
Sestos [Σηστός] was an ancient city in Thrace. It was located at the Thracian Chersonese peninsula on the European coast of the Hellespont, opposite the ancient city of Abydos, and near the town of Eceabat in Turkey.
Ancient and extremely important city of the Thrace peninsula, built at the point where the European coast is closest to the Asian coast, opposite the Asia Minor city of Abydos [Ἄβυδος]. Sestos was also called Zeugma or Heptastadium and belonged to the kingdom of the Trojan ally Asius of Hyrtakis, which we are informed about in rhapsody B of the Iliad.
