The name Pylaemenes is closely connected to Paphlagonia and its royal dynasty. In Greek mythology eg., Homer mentions a certain Pylaemenes as king of the Eneti tribe of Paphlagonia; "And the Paphlagonians Pylaemenes of the stout heart led from the land of the Eneti, from which is the race of wild she-mules".
He led his Paphlagonian forces to the Trojan War, as a Trojan ally. Pylaemenes was killed in battle by Menelaus of Sparta.
